Dedicating herself to the improvement of women’s lives, Margaret is proud to have served as The Haven’s Executive Director for 17 years. From 2005 to 2022, she and her staff helped The Haven to grow from a small organization (‘Tucson’s best kept secret’) to one of the best known, most prominent substance use treatment facilities for women in southern Arizona. From one small residential service, The Haven started its creative growth by inaugurating the award-winning Native Ways Program, and, subsequently, implementing an Outpatient Program, an Intensive Outpatient Program, and Outpatient Recovery Housing. While retaining its warm, family-first feeling, The Haven grew into a forward thinking, professional entity, embodying ‘Recovery with Respect’ as the guiding philosophy throughout The Haven.
While at The Haven, Margaret was proud to be on, amongst others, the Pima County – City of Tucson Women’s Commission, the Pima County – City of Tucson Commission on Addiction, Prevention and Treatment, and on the Board of Directors of COPE Community Services. Since leaving The Haven, Margaret has been invited to sit on the Board of Directors of the Public Library Foundation, and she is the President-elect of the Rotary Club of Tucson.
Born in England, and having lived in multiple countries, prior to joining The Haven, Margaret’s experiences included teaching at universities in three countries, where she focused on decision making related to philanthropy, management, and communications. Margaret holds a Bachelor of Arts, a graduate degree in information sciences, a Masters degree in Commerce, an MBA, and a PhD.
