The Haven offers master’s level internship positions. These positions are designed to provide students studying in the field of social work and counseling with an opportunity to work in the substance use disorders field and provide gender-specific services for women in both a residential and outpatient setting. This is a structured opportunity that allows students to receive formal supervised experience in a human service field.


  • Applicant must be a full-time student at a college or university.
  • Preference will be given to those with advanced standing and who are currently enrolled and have completed their first year of their master’s program by the start of the internship.
  • Eligible students should have completed core social services related coursework in social work or counseling.


  • Applicants are accepted year round.
  • Only applicants that make a commitment for a full year of study will be accepted. Interns are asked to commit to at least 16 hours per week.
  • On site supervision will be provided daily and weekly clinical supervision is mandatory.
  • Interns will have the opportunity to learn case management, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), relapse prevention, and trauma-based group Seeking Safety.
