New Grant funding from Arizona Complete Health

The Haven, received a $50,000 Capital Grant from Arizona Complete Health (AzCH) to enhance its property and improve member experience, safety, and wellbeing.

The Haven plans to utilize the grant funding to complete a series of repairs to improve the member experience. As a first step, The Haven is planning to replace old single-pane windows and doors from the 1940s with new double-pane windows to make residential rooms more safe, comfortable, and noise- and climate-controlled, while increasing natural light.

“We are honored to support The Haven in providing women across Tucson with a safe place to get the care and support they need,” said Martha Smith, Arizona Complete Health President and CEO. “We recognize that physical and emotional safety are critical components to cultivating the right environment to find peace and recovery.”

Since 1970, The Haven has helped women rebuild and break the cycle of intergenerational trauma by offering individualized and trauma-informed care to treat substance use and co-occurring disorders. The Haven’s residential facility has been operating at the same location in midtown Tucson since 1977. The main building was built in 1943, and The Haven has added other modular buildings and casitas throughout the years.

“We are incredibly grateful to AzCH for their continued support of this work. Many of our members come straight from incarceration or the streets and they deserve to live in a calm and visually appealing environment. By modernizing and improving our buildings, we can further create a space that boosts mental and physical health, promotes healthy living, and helps individuals avoid past triggers. Arizona Complete Health is a wonderful partner that is truly transforming the health of our community through its philanthropy,” said Aimee Graves, CEO of The Haven.
