Rejuvenating our spaces

The Haven is launching a rejuvenation campaign to enhance its physical spaces ensuring they reflect the care, dignity, and respect every member deserves.

The goal of this campaign is to modernize and beautify our three locations, creating a more calming, welcoming, and supportive environment that fosters mental and physical wellbeing.

Our Residential campus, located in the same place since 1977, includes a main building that dates back to 1943. The Recovery Houses, two of which are mid-20th century homes, provide free housing to Intensive Outpatient members in need of stable, safe shelter. While the main housing complex is more modern, the surrounding landscaping is minimal and in need of attention. Meanwhile, our outpatient clinic, admissions, and administrative offices are housed in a busy office building on Campbell Avenue. Though contemporary, these spaces are heavily used and show signs of wear.

All three sites would benefit from thoughtful updates such as small repairs, beautification projects, new furnishings, and the addition of art and greenery. While we make improvements as funding allows, many necessary updates have been postponed due to budget constraints.

“As The Haven celebrates its 55th anniversary, we are more committed than ever to creating spaces where our members feel safe, valued, and empowered. Most of the women who come to The Haven have experienced incarceration, homelessness, or lived in unstable environments. We strive to offer not only treatment, but also a sense of home, possibility, and healing. With a refreshed physical environment, we can enhance safety, improve the member experience, and inspire hope for a brighter future,” CEO Aimee Graves says.

After the mural

The first step in The Haven’s rejuvenation campaign began with a powerful mural by local artist Jodie Chertudi, now featured on the residential campus. The mural depicts a Butterfly Goddess symbolizing transformation, resilience, and the emergence from hardship into a hopeful, radiant future. This inspiring piece sets the tone for what’s to come. We plan to collaborate with local artists, businesses, and community organizations to continue creating uplifting, healing-centered spaces throughout all its locations.
