The Haven organized its annual celebration of Recovery with Respect on April 18, 2023. Each year, The Haven honors an individual or organization who helps to make our mission possible. The 2023 Chrysalis Luncheon Honoree was our Former Executive Director Margaret Higgins, MBA, PhD, who served the organization for 17 years.
This year the event was held at Tohono Chul and the new venue embodied the transformation our clients go through while at The Haven. It was a beautiful spring day and everything in the gardens was blooming just as our clients do when they are on their path to recovery.
180 people attended the event, and we were happy to see so many supporters of The Haven in the same room. We were thrilled that so many long-time supporters as well as alumnae and current clients were able to attend the event.
As Margaret Higgins said in her remarks, “Today is about women: women everywhere trying to make their way in life, and especially women at The Haven with strength to enter treatment to overcome the disease of substance use disorder. Most of all, today is about recognizing our collective achievements as women, about thanking the governing Board Members over the many years for their dedication to our goals, about thanking the dedicated staff: clinical, administrative, and operational, and about recognizing women, very often prior clients, who have shown us their determination, their grit, moving into a life they each find more fulfilling.”
