After more than 55 years of successful operation, The Haven, along with other providers, faces potential closure.
The AHCCCS behavioral health reimbursement rates and payment practices are structurally insufficient and administratively broken. The system-wide issues have forced many providers to cut services, reduce beds, or close entirely.
We are deeply grateful for your support throughout the years. As one of our trusted partners, we want to keep you informed about our situation.
Our Plan A is simple: We plan to remain open. Our goal is to serve as many women as possible, secure bridge funding, strengthen fundraising efforts, and continue advocating for the policy changes needed to address this funding crisis. We remain fully committed to providing life-changing services for women who need them.
At the same time, we must prepare for every possibility. As part of our Plan B, we have met with several nonprofit organizations that have expressed interest in a potential merger or acquisition of The Haven. These conversations are ongoing, and no decisions have been made.
The Haven was founded by women in recovery and built through grassroots support. While our organization has grown and evolved over the decades, our core identity remains the same. Today, more than ever, we need the community that built The Haven to help sustain it.
We are not looking for one person to solve this challenge. Instead, we are looking for 10,000 people willing to give $100. Together, those gifts can help preserve recovery services for women who need them most.
After our last update, we received a message from Haven alumna Sarah, who wanted to express her gratitude to our staff and Board of Directors:
“The Haven saved my life. Because of the safe housing, the non-judgmental support, and the incredible dedication of your staff, I am here today.
The work you do for women—especially in helping entire families heal together—is irreplaceable. I am living proof that the programs you run work, and that the ripple effects you mentioned in your email are very real.”
Thank you, Sarah, for allowing us to share your message with our community.
Your support can help ensure that more women have the same opportunity to rebuild their lives and reunite with their families.
Please donate if you can and help us spread the word by sharing this message with your friends, family, coworkers, faith communities, and social networks. Together, we can keep recovery services available for the women and children who depend on The Haven.
